VOTE YOUR VALUES: Bill Haney for Congressman
Red, White, and Blue traditional values for America
- Pro-Life: Although many good people disagree, I support a Constitutional amendment to ban abortion (The best way to have this accomplished is to pass a law that is not subject to review by lower Federal Courts or the Supreme Court…or at least overturn Roe v Wade and give states their power as outlined in the Constitution). All embryonic stem cell research and funding should be eliminated, with the possible exception of existing stem cell lines that have already been destroyed (Instead, increase support of adult stem cell research, where all medically relevant successes have been originated). We need to support and promote the adoption process and allow children to have an opportunity to be brought up in loving two parent families.
- Pro-Family Values: Current child tax deductions should be doubled for families with two married parents living together (or widowed parents). Families with stay home parent should be given a $10,000 tax credit. We need to eliminate "no-fault" divorce for couples with children under the age of 18. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) needs to better control media outlets and ban television from showing any immoral behavior (Determined by voters in each state) between the hours of 7am and 10pm. Radio needs to be regulated closer to prevent obscene language. Movies using any nudity or profanity whatsoever, particularly the use of the Lord’s name in vain, shall be granted an automatic R rating. I understand there is a fine line between protecting children and free speech, but each state can determine where to draw those boundaries. We also need to have a bill passed similar to the Public Expression of Religion Act (John Hostettler, Former Congressman from IN) to stop frivolous lawsuits by the ACLU and like-minded organizations.
- Pro-Government reform: Our Founding Fathers wanted to have a representative government. Government leaders were expected to serve a short period and go back home to work on the farm. I support term limits for every level of government. No career politicians! Tax rates need to be lowered for all Americans and our businesses (A good start will be to take the principle personal 25% tax rate and reduce it to 15%, which would help 9 of 10 Americans). Congress needs to pass the Constitutional Restoration Act to protect the “acknowledgment of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government.” The “politically correct” President’s Day should be replaced with George Washington’s Birthday. Columbus Day needs to be observed as a school holiday instead of the absurd “Teacher’s in service day.” Of course, welfare needs to be worked based. English should be the official language of the United States and we should help pay the expense of LEGAL immigrants to get English lessons. Illegal immigration should not be tolerated and our borders need to be enforced with a wall on our southern boarder and stiff fines levied on any companies hiring illegal aliens (This will force most of those entering the country illegally back to their own country without having us spend tax dollars to correct the majority of this problem. It’s unfair and immoral to penalize those that have taken the legal path to enter the country by giving their opportunities to those that have broken the law). We need to review the role of The Federal Reserve and its autonomy, with serious consideration given to returning to the gold standard in some method. At the very least, The Fed should be audited and be much more transparent. Shut down the National Endowment of the Arts. I also support having all Congressmen telecommute for 75% of their term in order to be more accessible to their constituents and better informed on local issues.
- Pro-Education: The $70 Billion Department of Education should be eliminated and school control given back to the states and local levels. That would allow for a more common sense driven agenda as the proposals listed here, including the return of prayer in school. School vouchers should be handed out to all families using private or public schools to attend the school of their choice. Kindergarten should only be a half day and there should be absolutely no government funded day care or “pre-school.” All sexual education classes should be abstinence based, which is the only guaranteed method to prevent pregnancy and protection from STDs. Our schools should not teach weak-science theories such as global warming and evolution as fact. Moral relativism needs to be banned from schools and teachers need to enforce right versus wrong based on the Ten Commandments (The same principals used to form the United States of America). Jail Schools should be built to hold all juveniles that disrupt classrooms and impede the learning of others. Yes, the Holy Bible should be allowed to be used as a textbook if approved by local school boards for elective courses.
- Pro-American Manufacturing and Sovereignty: We need America First trade policies…not NAFTA or GATT. Outsourcing American jobs and manufacturing capabilities is not “Free Trade.” I believe we need a combination of tariffs on goods manufactured outside the United States of America, including American and non-American based companies, and business tax cuts for companies producing goods within our boarders in order to make it advantageous to use American workers. We should also reduce the business tax rate to 12.5%, matching the rate used in Ireland. In Ohio alone, we have had double digit unemployment for ten straight months now ending in January 2010. In the past year, Ohio has lost an additional 126,000 jobs, bringing our official unemployment numbers to 641,000 folks (That is completely unacceptable). Part of the problem is the most recent numbers show that the USA had a trade deficit of over $37 billion dollars in January alone (Staying at that level would give us an annual trade imbalance of $447.5 Billion...over 18% above 2009 numbers). We can fix that by eliminating any impediments to producing here in the States (This includes the elimination of excess regulations and taxes that make it difficult to make a profit) and allow the private sector to provide jobs for citizens of the United States. I also believe we should limit or eliminate trade with any country promoting or allowing the trade of slavery and servitude of women, especially those having the “legal” practice of slave concubines.
- Pro-Military: We should expand our troop base to ensure proper security within our borders. Homosexuals can be patriotic and serve their country well, but they should not be able to openly belong to a branch of the Armed Services. The USA should cut back significantly on foreign bases (Now around the 1,000 mark in 130 countries) and use 10% of the savings to increase military pay, 40% for added personnel and technology, with 50% of the savings going to balancing the deficit and cutting taxes. The USA must see the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to completion with a realistic and concrete exit strategy, but expenses should be picked up by the countries we are fighting for. We should also build the wall on our southern boarder and deploy military personnel to help secure and eliminate illegal aliens and terrorists from entering the country. The USA should strongly support our allies in need such as Israel (The three-state proposal outlined by Ambassador John Bolton should be given serious consideration. Egypt would retain control of Gaza, Jordan would take over the West Bank, and Israel and the Palestinian people could live in peace) and Taiwan (Forced to break away from mainland China during the Revolution), encourage the uprising in Iran, and stop catering to a former dictator in Honduras that ignored the country’s constitution.
- Pro-Fiscal Responsibility: I am a capitalist. The government needs to live within its’ means and must pass a Constitutional Amendment to balance the budget. Any bailout of private companies is absolutely ridiculous and can not be tolerated. Congress should be looking out for the needs of the country and not their own personal concern of re-election and escalating pork. We need to account for 90% of the money we take in and allocate where needed, without over spending. The remaining 10% goes into reserve. Zero based budgeting should be standard. Regulation for businesses should be cut back tremendously. Capital gains and inheritance taxes should be eliminated. We should be energy independent by drilling in Alaska and other high resource areas, eliminate tax and regulatory impediments to building more refineries, and spend research dollars on clean coal and wind technologies. We can not allow a government take over of our medical industry. If anything, we need to legislate insurance companies to fairly cover medical alternatives (For example, covering pharmaceutical alternatives to chemotherapy, which saves more lives and is more financially viable for all parties), eliminate the preexisting condition excuse not to cover children, and allow for cross the state competition for insurance companies.
- Pro-Social Security: If Congress can not pass the obvious choice to save Social Security with personal savings accounts as outlined in the Ryan-Sununu bill, which would benefit all tax payers and allow individuals the ability to pass on benefits to their heirs, then we need to lift the cap on income levels. The second option (far behind the best and first choice) is to drop the Social Security tax for individuals to 4.1% and the cap at $100,000 should be phased out over five years (The existing business portion will not be changed at 6.2% with the income cap). Lowering the retirement age for either choice would also open up the existing job market and give folks actual time throughout retirement. Regardless, we have made no sincere effort to save the program and it needs to be revamped immediately. We do need to point out that the program would still be viable as currently set up if Congress did not raid the funds and destroy the system, but now we need to fix our government’s past incompetence and greed. In addition, Social Security benefits, in any form, should not be taxed.
- Pro-Second Amendment: We must stop those that want to restrict or eliminate the ability for law abiding citizens to protect their homes and families, or to hunt for food or sport. I believe as the saying goes, “The 2nd Amendment Protects the Rest.” Mandatory back ground checks should be required at Gun Shows and for major sellers of weapons, but firearms should not have to be registered (It’s not the government’s business to know if law-abiding citizens have firearms). Of course, in the era of weapons of mass destruction, the type of weapons need to be restricted under existing laws already in place, but the amount of firearms should not be limited. I support the appeal being reviewed by The Supreme Court under McDonald vs City of Chicago (As much as I support state rights, the individual right to bear arms can not be overturned by state law or local regulations).
